Job summary

Chailey Heritage Foundation is seeking a Farm Activities Coordinator to run hands-on animal care sessions and outdoor activities for participants with complex disabilities. The role involves delivering sessions, ensuring safety, and supporting the daily farm operations with a focus on accessibility and inclusion.

You’ll work with staff, therapists and families to provide meaningful experiences, adapt activities as needed, and help grow community activities on site at Chailey, East Sussex.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering or supporting engaging activities for children, young people or adults.
  • Confident leading practical, hands-on sessions.
  • Enjoys working with animals and outdoors.
  • Organised, proactive and adaptable; builds team relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging sessions built around animal care, handling, farm routines and outdoor activities.
  • Adapt activities to be accessible, inclusive and meaningful for every participant.
  • Support safe, positive interactions between people and animals.
  • Support day-to-day running of the farm: feeding, grooming and maintaining environments.
  • Prepare spaces, equipment and resources so sessions run smoothly.
  • Work with colleagues, therapists and families to deliver person-centered experiences.
  • Monitor participation and progress using observations and feedback for future sessions.
  • Contribute to seasonal activities and events on the farm.
  • Help develop farm clubs and community learning spaces.

Farm Activities Coordinator

LOCATION: Chailey, East Sussex (BN8 4EF)

SALARY: £25,882 - £28,263 FTE (£17,487 - £19,096 per year actual)

HOURS: 25 hrs per week – Flexibility and commitment to work weekdays, with some after school/evening and occasional weekend sessions

What You’ll Do

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll balance activity delivery with the day‑to‑day rhythm of farm life. You will:

  • Plan and lead engaging sessions built around animal care, handling, farm routines and outdoor activities
  • Adapt activities so they’re accessible, inclusive and meaningful for every participant
  • Support safe, positive interactions between people and animals
  • Support the day‑to‑day running of the farm - feeding, grooming and maintaining animal environments
  • Prepare spaces, equipment and resources so sessions run smoothly
  • Work closely with colleagues, therapists and families to deliver person‑centered experiences
  • Monitor participation and progress, using observations and feedback to shape future sessions
  • Play a part in seasonal activities, events and the ongoing development of the farm
  • Contribute to the developing clubs and events that enhance the farm as a community learning space
What We’re Looking For

You might come from a care, education, outdoor learning or farming background - what matters most is your enthusiasm, values and approach.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has experience delivering or supporting engaging activities for children, young people or adults
  • Is confident leading practical, hands‑on sessions
  • Enjoys working with animals and spending time outdoors
  • Is organised, proactive and able to adapt when things changeBrings a calm, positive and person‑centered approach
  • Builds strong relationships and works well as part of a team
  • Is confident using basic IT systems for planning and recording

Desirable: Experience in animal care, horticulture or other land‑based settings
