Job summary

Derbyshire County Council seeks a Family Time Assistant for the Chesterfield area. The full-time role (37 hours per week) is based at Birdholme Children's Centre, Chesterfield, with responsibilities including coordinating Family Time, transporting children, and liaising with professionals and families.

Qualifications

• Support and observe the delivery of family time between a child and their parents/carers, with role modelling and guidance.
• Liaise with professionals and families, and respond to emergencies or changes in family circumstances.
• Ensure safeguarding, effective communication with parents/carers, and accurate records in line with procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support and observe the delivery of family time, between a child and their parents/carers. This may be delivered virtually or in a Derbyshire County Council building or community setting.
• Contribute information to parenting assessments and alert managers to changes in family needs; respond to emergencies liaising with colleagues and carers as appropriate.
• Ensure good communication with parents, carers and foster carers to support delivery; provide appropriate challenge and behaviour management when needed.
• Complete records of work undertaken with families in accordance with the Department’s systems and processes.
• Ensure safeguarding of children and young people in line with safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements and maintaining confidentiality.
