Job summary

Story Wood School in Birmingham is seeking an exceptional Family Support Worker to promote pupil safety, wellbeing and inclusive practice. You will work with the Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral lead/DSL) and SENCO to safeguard, monitor attendance and support pupils with diverse needs.

You will engage families, remove barriers to learning, and contribute to restorative and trauma-informed approaches. The role involves collaboration with external agencies and delivering, where needed, targeted

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable children and families, safeguarding knowledge.
• Strong understanding of attendance and behaviour management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with pupils, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Take daily operational responsibility for safeguarding, attendance and behaviour.
• Lead on attendance improvement and engagement with families, including home visits when needed.
• Support SEND and inclusion through collaboration with SENCO and outside professionals.
• Assist with review meetings and multi-agency plans for pupils with complex needs.
• Contribute to staff training and to school improvement in pastoral care.
