Job summary

Action for Children in North Walsham, Norfolk, seeks a Family Support Practitioner to work with children and families, delivering parenting programmes, behaviour strategies, and emotional wellbeing support within home settings. You will help create safer home environments and build parental capacity through practical skills and evidence-based approaches.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Early Years or relevant study area.
• Experience of working directly with children and families, either individually or in a group setting.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication.
• The ability to maintain written records to a high standard.
• The ability to coordinate referral, assessment, and support.
• Confidence in IT systems.
• Experience of delivering a parenting programme (desirable).
• Access to a suitable method of transport to travel to various settings to carry out your role (essential).

Responsibilities

• Providing direct family support at home 1:1.
• Organising and running one to one and group-based parenting programmes using evidence-based approaches
• Attending and participating at relevant multi-agency meetings and providing a lead role when required
• Using a strengths-based approach to working with families.
• Taking an outcome focused approach for children and families.
