Job summary

Action for Children is seeking a Family Support Practitioner to work with families in Norfolk and surrounding areas. The role involves delivering parenting programmes, improving family wellbeing, and creating safer home environments.

It includes both home visits and group activities, with opportunities for professional training. The role is advertised as full-time, with a part-time option (22 hours per week) available; state your preference in the application.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Early Years or relevant study area.
• Experience of working directly with children and families, individually or in a group setting.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Ability to maintain written records to a high standard.
• Ability to coordinate referral, assessment and support.
• Confidence in IT systems.
• Access to a suitable method of transport to travel to various settings.
• Desirable: experience delivering a parenting programme.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct family support at home 1:1.
• Organising and running one to one and group-based parenting programmes using evidence-based approaches.
• Attending and participating at multi-agency meetings; provide lead role when required.
• Using a strengths-based approach to working with families.
• Taking an outcome-focused approach for children and families.
