Job summary

Hampshire County Council is hiring a Family Practitioner in Totton, offering a permanent contract and a 37-hour week (part-time considered). You will support children and families, coordinate services, and work with Social Workers to develop family plans, using a strengths-based Hampshire Approach to keep children safe at home.

The role requires strong communication, mediation, and report-writing skills, with flexibility for hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children, young people and families.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Mediation and handling challenging situations.
• Ability to produce clear reports and use IT systems confidently.
• Flexible and adaptable to inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with children, parents, and carers to provide practical and emotional support.
• Arrange resources and help families access services such as transport, care, and housing.
• Build positive relationships and work collaboratively with professionals.
• Use mediation and negotiation skills to improve family relationships.
• Undertake assessments and Children in Need visits alongside Social Workers.
• Prepare clear reports and maintain accurate records.
