Job description

Sousa Law is seeking to recruit a talented and committed Family Law Solicitor with 1–5 years’ post-qualification experience to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to develop their career within a respected and growing specialist family law firm.

Based in Southampton, Sousa Law is a well-regarded practice known for our expertise in all forms of NCDR and for delivering a client-focused, compassionate service. We pride ourselves on offering a professional, supportive and inclusive working environment. Our team benefits from flexible working arrangements, private healthcare, and a clear performance-based bonus scheme.

We are proud of the strong and positive culture we have built at Sousa Law. We are committed to staff wellbeing, personal development, and long-term career progression. We actively promote from within and offer clear pathways for advancement.

This is a genuine opportunity to join a forward-thinking firm where your contribution will be valued and where you can build a long-term career. As part of our supportive ethos, we arrange weekend team buildings event (sometimes abroad) for all staff to give the team a chance to partake in training then relax, connect, and reflect on achievements.

The successful candidate will have a solid grounding in family law and the confidence to manage their own caseload. They must be capable of conducting their own advocacy in children matters, domestic abuse applications, and financial hearings. Professionalism, accuracy, and independent working are essential, along with strong organisational and communication skills. If the candidate has an existing caseload or client following, this will be viewed favourably.

Business development is an important part of this role. The successful candidate must be able to generate their own work, either through an existing network or through proactive engagement with the local community. Prior membership of professional networking organisations would be advantageous. If not already involved, the candidate should be willing to attend networking events on a regular basis and should be confident and enthusiastic about building relationships that support the growth of their own client base and the firm’s reputation.

We are particularly interested in individuals committed to constructive NCDR. Applicants should ideally be trained in, or willing to undertake professional development in NCDR work. A client-centred, empathetic approach is essential, as is the ability to deliver clear, practical advice during emotionally complex matters, while maintaining strong professional relationships with colleagues, clients, and contacts.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and supportive firm, where you will be encouraged to contribute, develop and grow within your role. If you’re looking for a career, not just a job, and want to be part of a team that values initiative, care, and excellence, we would be pleased to hear from you.

We welcome applications from candidates available to start on or before 1st October 2025.
