Job summary

Grove Park School invites applications for a Family Liaison Officer. This term-time, permanent role is 28 hours across four days per week (39 weeks per year). Pay is Range 5 FTE £26,823-£27,765, pro rata £17,773-£18,397.

The successful candidate will help strengthen home–school relationships and support attendance, punctuality, and wellbeing. You will work with parents, staff and external agencies, promote community engagement, and assist safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Good communication skills and an understanding of the needs of young people.
  • An ability to work in a team and engage with parents and staff.
  • Awareness of safeguarding and data protection considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with parents and staff to promote home–school relationships.
  • Engage with parents in preventative and early intervention activities.
  • Promote parent and community engagement with external agencies.
  • Show initiative and be involved in all aspects of school life.
  • Liaise with SLT, teaching staff, parents and outside agencies.
  • Support safeguarding and data protection requirements.

Job description

Grove Park School have an opportunity for a Family Liaison Officer to join our dedicated team. This is a term-time only, permanent position, 28 hours a week across four days (39 weeks per year). Pay will be on Range 5 FTE £26,823-£27,765 (pro rata £17,773-£18,397). We aim for all our children to become successful lifelong learners and are looking for someone that shares our ethos, someone who is passionate, motivated and enthusiastic. Good communication skills, an understanding of the needs of young people and an ability to work in a team are essential. A sound knowledge of SEN is desirable.

  • work closely with parents and staff to promote good relationships between home and school, addressing common barriers such as attendance, punctuality, poor behaviour and to understand social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and heritage.
  • engage with parents in preventative and early intervention activities to support learning and well-being.
  • promote parent and community engagement including working with other agencies including school nursing, education welfare services, early help, outreach etc.
  • show initiative and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life and have the ability to draw on a wide range of support services, information, opportunities and guidance.
  • take a flexible approach to working.
  • proactively liaise and collaborate with SLT, teaching staff, parents and outside agencies;
  • have experience of Safeguarding children, Child Protection and education management information systems
  • be emotionally resilient and capable of dealing with challenging situations.
  • work as part of a wider team with the children's needs at the centre
  • encourage good home / school communication
  • support parents to attend meetings and appointments
  • have excellent administration and organisation skills
  • have good communication skills and understand the importance of confidentiality and data protection
