Job description

About the role

The Florence Nightingale Academy is seeking to appoint a committed, skilled and highly organised Family Liaison Worker to join our team. This is a key role within the academy. The successful candidate will work closely with children, families, staff and partner agencies to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes for our pupils.

Safeguarding will be central to the role. Working alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead and wider safeguarding team, the postholder will support the day-to-day management of CPOMS, including reviewing concerns, assigning and following up actions, maintaining robust chronologies and helping to ensure that safeguarding casework is well coordinated and timely.

The role will also have a strong attendance and family support focus. The successful candidate will lead interventions to help families reconnect with school, improve attendance and address emerging concerns through home visits, direct work, internal support and referrals to appropriate external services.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has experience of working with children and families in a school or similar setting;
  • has a secure understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures;
  • is able to build positive relationships with families while also having clear, professional and sometimes challenging conversations;
  • can manage a demanding caseload, keep accurate records and follow actions through;
  • understands how attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, SEND and safeguarding are often interconnected;
  • is confident working with external agencies and representing the academy professionally;
  • is resilient, calm and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • ideally has training in a therapeutic or structured intervention such as ELSA, Drawing and Talking Therapy or LEGO-based intervention, although this is desirable rather than essential.

What we can offer

  • the opportunity to make a significant difference to children and families;
  • a supportive and committed staff team;
  • high-quality professional development and training;
  • the benefits of being part of The White Hills Park Trust;
  • a role that is varied, meaningful and central to the life of the academy.
