Job summary

Luton Council is seeking a Family Help Team Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary team delivering early-help and child-in-need services, ensuring children stay safe in their homes. You will coordinate social workers, CAMHS clinicians, housing officers, and more to deliver joined-up support.

Responsibilities include strategic oversight of cases, safeguarding decisions, and driving quality through supervision, coaching, and performance indicators.

Qualifications

• Social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) and Registered with Social Work England.
• Significant experience in children’s social care, including early help and statutory work.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear reports.

Responsibilities

• Inspire and lead a diverse team of specialists.
• Hold strategic oversight of all early-help and child-in-need cases, making safeguarding judgements.
• Drive practice quality through evidence-based interventions, supervision, and QA.
• Forge strong partnerships with schools, health, police, and voluntary sectors for seamless service delivery.
• Manage resources by setting priorities, controlling a devolved budget and deploying staff and commissioned services.
• Coach and develop practitioners to embed high-quality social work across the service.
