Job summary

Hampshire County Council in Hampshire is seeking an Assistant Team Manager to shape and lead child-focused practice within the Family Help Teams. You will support frontline Social Workers to deliver early, targeted family support across Hampshire, promoting outstanding outcomes for children and families.

We value senior social work leadership, mentoring of colleagues, and a strong focus on safeguarding and quality casework.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Significant UK-based frontline statutory social work experience, including senior-level practice.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and support professionals within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent assessment and supervision skills.
• Confident in making key safeguarding decisions to ensure children are safe and protected at all times.
• Proven track record in service development and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver statutory interventions and assessments for children and families.
• Champion the Hampshire Approach, ensuring children's voices are central to all decision-making.
• Contribute to effective caseload management by co-working complex cases and maintaining high standards.
• Support the development of less experienced staff through supervision and mentoring.
• Provide leadership by chairing statutory meetings and deputising for the Team Manager.
