Job summary

Oldham Council is seeking a Family Help Engagement Officer to support the delivery of an effective multi‑agency Family Help offer. Working within a District Family Help Team, you will provide expert advice, assistance and training to a wide range of partners to ensure children and families access the right support at the earliest opportunity.

This fixed term 12‑month role is based at district offices across the borough and in the Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub.

Qualifications

  • Experience using assessment tools to identify the needs of families which will inform bespoke plans and appropriate interventions.
  • Experience delivering training, support or advice to other professionals.
  • Experience working in partnership with professionals from different disciplines, such as schools, health services and the voluntary sector.
  • Experience working in a team, supporting each other to achieve team objectives and sharing learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to universal partners on the Family Help offer and train on Family Help Assessments.
  • Organise and facilitate multi-agency Family Help conversations with partners to identify families who would benefit from multi‑agency Family Help support.

Hours: 36.66 per week

Based: District offices across the borough and in the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (Spindles Office)

Role Overview

Working within a District Family Help Team, you will support the delivery of an effective multi-agency Family Help offer through providing expert advice, assistance and training to a wide range of partners. The post helps to ensure that children and families access the right support at the earliest opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide advice and support to universal service key partners to enable them to deliver the multi-agency Family Help offer. This includes delivering training on Family Help Assessments, providing advice and support on the Team Around the Family offer available for children and families and role modelling good practice.
  • To organise and facilitate multi-agency Family Help conversations in the district, including working with partners to identify families who would benefit from multi‑agency Family Help support.
  • To develop and maintain detailed knowledge of the services and local resources in the District, in order to help children and families access these to become more embedded in their communities and become less reliant on services.
  • To develop and maintain strong working relationships with professionals in a wide range of services delivering services and support to children and families.
Key Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Experience of using assessment tools to identify the needs of families which will inform bespoke plans and appropriate interventions
  • Experience of delivering training, support or advice to other professionals
  • Experience of working effectively in partnership with professionals from different disciplines, such as schools, health services and the voluntary sector
  • Experience of working in a team, supporting each other to achieve team objectives and sharing learning opportunities
