Job summary

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences seeks a full-time faculty member to deliver high-quality instruction for its expanded MCPHS Manchester, NH program. The incumbent will teach undergraduate students in classroom and clinical settings, engage in service and scholarship, and mentor students through office hours and appointments.

The appointment supports CODA approval processes and will involve collaboration with university leadership, colleagues, and professional organizations

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of work experience in clinical dental hygiene.
• Minimum of 1–2 years teaching experience at the college/university level.
• Eligibility for Local Anesthesia permit and Dental Hygiene license in New Hampshire.
• Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Job description

The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene (FSDH) is excited to announce the potential expansion to its MCPHS campus in Manchester, NH on July 1, 2027. FSDH seeks a full-time faculty member to deliver high-quality instruction and learning experiences for its students in this new program. The faculty member will engage in teaching, service, and scholarship activities, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the University as well as with the leadership team, of the FSDH. Additionally, the incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact, and reputation of the University and its programs through research and scholarly engagement. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching both classroom and clinical courses to undergraduate students. Subject matters may include dental hygiene science, such as radiology, periodontology, pharmacology, dental, and head and neck anatomy, as well as the dental hygiene process of care theory. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This appointment is contingent upon the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) approval of the proposed program expansion. A decision on approval from CODA for this expansion is anticipated in March of 2027.

• Deliver didactic, laboratory and/or experiential instruction via multiple formats (in-person, online, or in a ‘blended’ format) in the FSDH.
• Using evidence-based best teaching practices, provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
• Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
• Support integrating content into the curriculum and co-curricular experiences that broaden students’ education and increase their understanding of health needs across all communities.
• Participate in service activities; serve on committees; serve on regional, state, or national organization committees and volunteer activities; represent the program and University in/at community functions; attend School and institutional activities such as Commencement and ceremonies; and support student activities such as health fairs and service projects.
• Participate in scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual.
• Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabi, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
• Utilize aXium Ascend to manage patient records and students' evaluations.
• Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms.
• Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment.
• Attend and participate in monthly School and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other major events, and serves as a member of University, School and/or Department committees, as assigned.
• Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings.
• Provide requested accreditation-related program data pertaining to teaching responsibilities and clinical roles
• Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
• Build and maintain relationships with professional organizations involved with the healthcare sector.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
