Job summary

Shillito Group are recruiting a Factory Manager for a fast paced manufacturing business based in Sheffield. The role carries full responsibility for factory performance across production, people, quality, cost, maintenance, stock and continuous improvement, with a strong emphasis on delivering results.

You will own the manufacturing budget and P&L, driving labour efficiency, reducing scrap and downtime, and improving productivity.

Qualifications

• Strong experience running a substantial manufacturing operation.
• Experience managing managers, supervisors and large shop floor teams.
• Confident in making difficult decisions in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience with manufacturing budgets and P&L.
• Solid understanding of production, maintenance, quality and continuous improvement.
• Experience improving productivity, reducing waste and driving accountability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee factory performance across production, people, quality, cost, maintenance, stock and continuous improvement.
• Walk into a busy manufacturing environment, take ownership and make decisions.
• Responsible for the manufacturing budget and P&L, with a focus on labour efficiency, scrap, downtime, material usage, productivity and cost.

This is a senior role with full responsibility for factory performance across production, people, quality, cost, maintenance, stock and continuous improvement.

The biggest thing they need is a strong character.

Someone who can walk into a busy manufacturing environment, take ownership and make decisions. You need to be comfortable challenging people, holding managers accountable and making tough calls when performance, standards or behaviours are not where they need to be.

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from behind a desk.

You will be visible across the factory, close to production and expected to understand what is happening, why it is happening and what needs to change.

You will also have responsibility for the manufacturing budget and P&L, with a real focus on labour efficiency, scrap, downtime, material usage, productivity and cost.

They are looking for someone with:
