Job summary

The Jockey Club seeks a skilled Facilities Operative to join the Aintree & Haydock Park Facilities Team. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across racecourse buildings, hospitality areas, stables and external spaces, with emphasis on joinery and plumbing.

You will inspect facilities, prepare for race days, and work safely while recording completed work. The role requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and race days, and good teamwork.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in facilities, property or general building maintenance, with hands-on experience in joinery and plumbing repairs.
• Good knowledge of general building fabric maintenance and safe working practices.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills to diagnose issues and complete repairs.

Responsibilities

• Undertake joinery and carpentry repairs including doors, locks, gates, fencing, seating and timber structures.
• Complete plumbing maintenance and repairs (leaks, taps, toilets, sinks, pipework, drainage).
• Carry out general building maintenance (patch plastering, tiling, decorating).
• Inspect buildings and facilities, identify issues and escalate when needed.
• Prepare facilities for race days and events, including installing temporary infrastructure.
• Maintain safety and record completed work.
• Collaborate with wider team and work flexibly including weekends and on-call.
