Your new company
Hays is currently looking for a Facilities Technician to work for a public sector authority based in Warrington.

Your new role

  1. Mechanical and electrical knowledge is essential.
  2. Carry out maintenance activities, both reactive and remedial, as directed by the Preventative Planned Maintenance planner, ensuring standards are maintained; log and record maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  3. Diagnose and repair issues related to building infrastructure, including lights, doors, furniture, painting, decorating, and plumbing.
  4. Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with safety standards and relevant legislation.
  5. Liaise with external contractors, ensuring risk assessments and method statements are completed.
  6. Perform fault finding, minor repairs, installations, and maintain services and equipment within a critical environment.
  7. Previous experience in facilities maintenance or related field is essential.
  8. On-call availability is required for a 24/7, 365-day operation.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  10. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in facilities maintenance is preferable.
  11. Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  12. IPAF and Plasma certification are desirable but training can be provided.
  13. Experience with Three Phase electrical systems is essential.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience in industrial or commercial mechanical/electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, water hygiene (L8 ACOP) is preferable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Self-motivated with initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills for troubleshooting building systems.
