Job summary

Merlin Sea Life Blackpool is seeking a Facilities Supervisor to oversee the Planned Preventative Maintenance, safety, and efficiency of building services including AV and lighting systems. You will manage contractors, attend daily briefings, and support projects to ensure on-time delivery within budget.

The role covers the Gruffalo and Friends Clubhouse within the same building, requiring flexibility to weekends/bank holidays on a rota, and occasional late shifts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar role (Maintenance Manager / Facilities Supervisor / Caretaker).
• Hands-on maintenance across building infrastructure (Mechanical & Electrical).
• Able to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously.
• Experience in live public environments with hazard control awareness.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planned maintenance program (PPM) and facility operations.
• Manage and brief contractors for remedial work and projects.
• Coordinate with Senior Operations Manager and General Manager on budgets and timelines.
• Maintain safety and service levels in a high-traffic public environment.
• Cover maintenance at both Sea Life Blackpool and Gruffalo & Friends Clubhouse.

What you'll bring to the team

We have a new opportunity for an experienced and organised Facilities Supervisor to be responsible for ensuring the PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance), efficiency and safety of our Sea Life Blackpool attraction.

Working every-day around some of the world’s most unique marine wildlife as the attractions Facilities Supervisor, you will be ensuring that the fabric of the building and building facilities, audio-visual and virtual reality systems, lighting, special effects are all in adequate working order. Even though this will be a hands‑on role, you will be accountable for booking and managing all maintenance contractors required for varied and specific remedial requirements.

Reporting and supporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you the Facilities Supervisor will ensure through effective and proactive maintenance programs that all systems operate efficiently, effectively, and safely. With input from the General Manager, you’ll also be responsible for delivering projects on time and within budget.

Even though this will be a fun and exciting role when no two days will be the same, this at time will be a demanding role where you will be providing a vital support to the attraction, ensuring that a memorable experience is delivered to all our guests.

In addition, you will also covering Facilities maintenance requirements at our Gruffalo and Friends Clubhouse attraction, in the same building as Sea Life.

In this role you will attend and hold daily briefings, take radio calls and work on reactive jobs as they come in.

This role is full-time, permanent, and will include weekends and bank holidays as part of a shift rota. The occasional late evening work can be required at times in this role.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience working in a similar role as a Maintenance Manager, Facilities Supervisor or Caretaker
• Hands‑on maintenance experience, covering varied aspects of building infrastructure (Mechanical and Electrical working appreciation)
• Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi‑task as necessary.
• Proven ability to competently select and manager contractors
• Experience working safely in a live public environment with a strong working appreciation of hazard control
• Ability to maintain the highest level of service in high‑pressure and/or stressful situations
• Good customer service appreciation with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently
