Job summary

The Sterling Choice is seeking an Engineering / Facilities Manager to oversee the facilities side of a busy food manufacturing site. The role focuses on maintenance, compliance, planning and day-to-day coordination with a small team, while offering a pathway toward a Site Engineering Manager position.

This position emphasizes ownership of facilities activities, budgeting responsibilities, and collaboration with the engineering leadership to ensure safe, efficient site operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities or engineering management within food manufacturing.
• Understanding of site maintenance, facilities and compliance requirements.
• Experience coordinating maintenance teams, contractors and site activities.
• Knowledge of building services, pneumatics and general facilities maintenance.
• Budgeting and cost management experience.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing site facilities, including general building maintenance, pneumatics and compliance.
• Planning and coordinating facilities maintenance, ensuring work is prioritised and completed effectively.
• Managing a team of approximately three handymen.
• Coordinating contractors and resources to support site maintenance requirements.
• Taking responsibility for departmental budgets, cost control and resource planning.
• Ensuring compliance requirements and facilities standards are maintained.
• Supporting site improvement projects and identifying opportunities to improve facilities and processes.
• Working closely with the wider engineering team to ensure the site operates safely and efficiently.
• You'll work closely with the senior engineering team, taking ownership of facilities activities while gaining exposure to broader departmental planning and management.
