Job summary

King Edward’s School, Bath is seeking a reliable and practical Site Operative to join our Estates and Facilities team.

This is a varied role supporting the smooth running, security and upkeep of the School site, including overseeing facility hires, securing buildings, setting up for events, transporting items across the campus, carrying out basic cleaning and maintenance tasks, and helping to keep the School environment safe, tidy and welcoming.

Qualifications

• Practical, reliable and flexible approach to work.
• Friendly, helpful and approachable manner.
• Positive can do attitude and willingness to support varied tasks.
• Ability to carry out physical tasks, including moving furniture and equipment.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate with staff, pupils, visitors and contractors.
• Good awareness of health and safety, including the ability to identify and report hazards.
• Basic IT skills.
• Full, clean driving licence (advantageous but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Oversee use of school facilities, including external hires and bookings.
• Support the set-up and clear-down of School events and activities.
• Help secure the School site by locking buildings, closing windows and switching off lights.
• Carry out general caretaking, cleaning and routine maintenance tasks.
• Keep external areas tidy and ensure waste and recycling is managed appropriately.
• Transport items and equipment around and between School sites.
• Report faults, hazards or health and safety concerns promptly.
