Job summary

FM Conway Ltd. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Operative to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our head office in Sevenoaks, Kent. The role covers carpentry, finishing, and general building tasks, with a permanent, full-time arrangement from our Sevenoaks base.

The successful candidate will perform reactive and planned maintenance, support HVAC and electrical systems, and help with larger renovation projects, while keeping accurate records and prioritising safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry maintenance and repair in commercial or industrial environments.
• Understanding of other basic building systems.
• Proficiency with mobile devices to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and diagnose faults.
• Carry out planned maintenance in line with schedules and compliance.
• Support wider facilities team with HVAC, electrical and mechanical maintenance when required.
• Perform general building repairs including carpentry, painting, fittings and flooring.
• Maintain records of carpentry and maintenance work per procedures.
• Identify and report safety concerns or hazards related to water systems and leaks.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team on renovations or improvements.

Job description

FM Conway is currently recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Operative to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities. As our Facilities Maintenance Operative you will carry out a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks including but not limited to carpentry, finishing, general building and external works. This is a permanent, full-time position based from our head office in Sevenoaks, Kent.

The duties of the Facilities Maintenance Operative role will include:

• Responding promptly to reactive maintenance requests and effectively diagnose faults
• Completing planned maintenance works in accordance with schedules, specifications, and compliance requirements
• Supporting the wider facilities team in maintaining other building systems such as HVAC, electrical and mechanical when required
• Completing general building repairs including minor carpentry, painting, fittings and flooring tasks
• Maintaining accurate records of completed carpentry and maintenance work in line with company procedures
• Identifying and reporting any safety concerns or potential hazards related to water systems and leaks
• Working with the wider maintenance team on larger renovation or improvement projects

What skills and experience do you need?

You will have experience in carpentry maintenance and repair within commercial or industrial environments, along with a good understanding of other basic building systems. An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry or City and Guilds in Carpentry is desirable. You must have a full UK driving licence and be confident using mobile devices to complete tasks.
