Job summary

FM Conway is seeking a reliable General Operative to join our Asset Management Structures Division in London. Based from the Paddington Office, you'll be part of a busy site team delivering groundworks, drainage, concrete, brickwork and hard landscaping across central and south London.

You'll work safely alongside experienced colleagues, following RAMS and site instructions, with opportunities to develop skills and progress within FM Conway's Structures Division.

Qualifications

• Experience in a construction or highways environment is essential.
• Knowledge of RAMS, method statements and site instructions is preferred.
• A positive and reliable attitude with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of general construction and maintenance activities safely and efficiently, following RAMS, method statements and site instructions.
• Support with works including pavement construction, drainage, deep drainage, utilities and hard landscaping.
• Assist with groundworks, structural concrete, bricklaying and other construction activities as required.
• Work as part of the wider site team, supporting colleagues to ensure works are completed safely and to the required standard.
• Use the appropriate tools, safeguards and PPE for the work being undertaken.
• Carry out pre-use checks on plant, tools and equipment and report any defects or concerns to the Site Management team.
• Ensure plant and equipment is used safely and only by individuals who are appropriately trained and competent.
• Use materials correctly and efficiently, helping to minimise waste through good housekeeping and following the agreed work methodology.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment throughout the site.
• Report any incidents, accidents, hazards or other points of concern to your Line Manager or Site Management without delay.
• Follow all FM Conway Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.

At FM Conway, our General Operatives play an important role in keeping London's infrastructure safe, well maintained and moving. Working as part of our site teams, you'll support the delivery of essential works across the city, helping to maintain some of London's most important and prestigious infrastructure.

We're looking for a reliable and hardworking General Operative to join our Asset Management team within our Structures Division, working on projects across central and south London.

Based from our Paddington Office, you'll work as part of a supportive site team carrying out a variety of construction and maintenance activities. From groundworks and drainage to structural concrete, bricklaying and hard landscaping, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills while working across a varied and interesting contract.

No two days are the same. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of works while ensuring sites are kept clean, organised and safe for everyone.

As one of our General Operatives, you will:

We're looking for someone with previous experience in a construction or highways environment, who is comfortable working as part of a busy site team and is keen to develop their skills.

You'll have experience supporting with activities such as groundworks, drainage, utilities, structural concrete, bricklaying, pavement construction or hard landscaping. A good understanding of health and safety and safe working practices is essential.

You'll also hold:

• A valid CSCS card.
• A medium/high-risk confined space qualification.
• A full UK driving licence.

Across the wider Structures Division, we've delivered refurbishments, improvements, heritage maintenance and structural repairs on some of London's most recognisable structures, including Hammersmith Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, Rochester Bridge, Southwark Bridge and Greenford Flyover.
