Job summary

OCS Group is seeking a diligent Technical Support professional to help operate and maintain a Data Centre facility in Reading. The role combines hands-on engineering with administrative duties to support compliance, asset management, contractor coordination, and inventory control.

This hybrid site and office-based position requires involvement across preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and reporting to ensure operational continuity of critical infrastructure assets.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting data centre operations and maintenance.
• Ability to assist with fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance in complex infrastructure.
• Strong organization skills for asset and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support: Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across site infrastructure; assist with reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis; maintain technical competency across site systems; provide shift cover as needed.
• Asset and Inventory Management: Manage critical spare parts inventory and stock levels; coordinate equipment and material ordering; maintain accurate inventory records; conduct routine asset verification.
• Compliance and Documentation: Maintain statutory compliance records and engineering documentation; support internal and external audits; ensure site logbooks and maintenance records are up to date.
• Maintenance Performance and Reporting: Monitor reactive maintenance work orders and close-out; track maintenance trends and recurring failures; produce reports and performance information for management.

About The Role:

Responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Data Centre facility through a combination of hands-on engineering activities and operational support functions.

The role provides technical assistance to the Data Centre Shift Team while supporting the Management Team on key compliance, asset management, contractor coordination, and inventory control processes. The position operates as a hybrid site and office-based role, ensuring operational continuity, audit readiness, and effective management of critical infrastructure assets.

Technical Support

• Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across site infrastructure.
• Assist with reactive maintenance activities and fault diagnosis.
• Maintain technical competency across site systems and equipment.
• Provide shift cover where operationally required.

Asset and Inventory Management

• Manage critical spare parts inventory and stock levels.
• Coordinate equipment and material ordering activities.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and storage arrangements.
• Conduct routine asset verification exercises.

Compliance and Documentation

• Maintain statutory compliance records and engineering documentation.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Ensure site logbooks, maintenance records, and technical documentation remain accurate and up to date.

Maintenance Performance and Reporting

• Monitor reactive maintenance work orders and support close-out activities.
• Track maintenance trends and recurring equipment failures.
• Produce reports and performance information to support management decision-making.
