Job summary

South West Community Chaplaincy’s Hindleap Warren site seeks a proactive Facilities and Safety Lead to oversee all facilities, estates and safety operations. The role blends strategic planning with hands-on delivery to ensure buildings, grounds and systems are safe, compliant, efficient and sustainable.

You will be part of a team that values collaboration and accountability, with involvement in annual budgeting and capital expenditure planning.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering safe, customer-facing premises and grounds.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams across multiple sites.
  • Relevant qualifications in facilities estates management and Health & Safety.
  • NEBOSH General is essential.
  • Knowledge of H&S compliance standards applicable to sites.
  • Ability to train others in health & safety.
  • Experience as part of a management team driving change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of Facilities Management services across site.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive planned preventative maintenance programme.
  • Procure and manage services, evaluate contracts and tender processes.
  • Set estates and health and safety elements of annual budgets and advise on capital expenditure.
  • Lead an efficient housekeeping and facilities team and maintain high safety standards.
  • Line-manage and develop the team with regular 121s and training.
  • Attend monthly Safety and Safeguarding Team meetings.

Job description

Youwill leadon all aspects of safety,facilitiesand estate management atouroutdoor learning centreHindleapWarren. Youwillalsosupportand advisethefacilitiesteam(managed on site by the Director of Financeatour London Office.This role will be a blend of strategic andpragmaticthinking to createa great placeto work, along with the need to ‘roll up sleeves’ and ensure ourbuildings, grounds and systems of workare safe, compliant,efficientand sustainable.A monthly visit to theLondon officewill be expected.

What you will be doing
Facilities Management
  • Lead on delivery of all Facilities Management services,including but not limited to: M&E,fabric,cleaning/ housekeeping, bed linen/ laundry,carparking,grounds,wastemanagement,pestcontroland external contractors.Occasionallysupport may be needed out of normal working hours in emergency situations.
  • Establishandmaintaina comprehensive planned preventative maintenance programme ensuring the satisfactory operation of all buildings, plant and equipment and ensuring our buildingsremaincompliant, safe, fit forpurposeandreflect our brand values at all times.
  • Procureand manage services, evaluatecontractsand tender processesthrough a blend of in-house and out-sourced delivery methods, asappropriate, and evaluate value for money.
  • Work with theDirector of Centresand DeliveryandHeadof Centreto set the estates, facilities and health and safety elements of their annual budgets and advising on capital expenditure requirements.
  • Lead an efficient and high-performing housekeeping and facilities team, ensuring all areas of responsibility are run effectively,maintainingthe highest standards of safety, customerexperienceand service delivery.
  • Effectively line-manage and support the development of your team through regular 121s, annual appraisals,guidanceand training, including working on their personal development
Health & Safety
  • Maintain a health and safety management system-ensuringall regulatory requirementsare met, including overseeingrisk assessments,health & safety policies and proceduresand annual audits.
  • Attendmonthlymeetings of the Safety and Safeguarding Team, analysing reported accident and incident data.
What you bring to the role

The following attributes are required for the role.

  • Experience of delivering safe and effective work on customer-facing premises and grounds.
  • Experience of managing high performing teams to deliver in line with the needs of an organisation.
  • Experience of working and leading teams across multiple sites.
  • Relevant qualifications in facilities and estates management and Health & Safety.
    • NEBOSH General is essential.
  • Knowledge of the Health & Safety compliance standards applicable to our sites and how these should be achieved. (Please note the outdoor adventurous activities are managed by the operations team – specialist knowledge of these areas are not required).
  • Ability to communicate in a range of settings with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Ability and experience of training others in health & safety.
  • Experience of working as a member of a management team and bringing about changes through the action of your peers and team.
