Job description

We’re looking for a Facilities Manager to take ownership of our state-of-the-art site at London Gateway, Stanford-le-Hope. This is a standalone role, ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy and takes pride in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee existing service contracts and providers.
  2. Develop and manage a robust Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) strategy.
  3. Maintain and monitor:
  • MHE and conveyor systems (automated & manual)
  • Fire alarms, extinguishers, and burglar alarms
  • HVAC systems
  • Electrical systems (lighting, CCTV, main supply, portables)
  • PAT testing of electrical equipment (training provided)
  • Vending machines and water coolers
  • Water systems (main supply, softeners, heaters, dispensers)
  • Monitor the condition of the building, yard, and car park, arranging repairs as needed.
  • Ensure that work by contractors and staff is completed to a satisfactory standard, following up on any areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate and lead contractor visits related to facilities maintenance, compliance, and repairs.
  • Manage your own budget and make cost-effective decisions aligned with operational needs.
  • Respond to on-site emergencies during usual working hours and manage any immediate issues.
  • Lead on audit preparation and compliance relevant to the facilities department.
  • Act as the H&S Committee Leader and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Log and manage maintenance schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Serve as the Fire Officer for the site (Fire Marshal training provided).
  • What We’re Looking For:

    • Proven experience in facilities management or a similar role.
    • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
    • Friendly and approachable, with a positive attitude and team spirit.
    • Driver, with own vehicle preferred due to site location.
