Job summary

Amey is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead on-site Hard FM services at HMP Long Lartin. You will oversee the estate, develop the team and work with the client to ensure safe, compliant and efficient service delivery in a challenging security environment.

This role requires experience in complex estates, strong health and safety knowledge and the ability to manage budgets and KPIs. Prison security clearance will be required with Amey supporting the process.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical or FM qualification, IWFM Level 3 or equivalent.
• Extensive experience leading Hard FM or estates services in a complex operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and its practical implementation.
• Experience managing service delivery, KPIs, budgets and costs.
• Proven first-line people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation and strategic management of the estate on behalf of the client.
• Drive and maintain statutory and mandatory compliance across all areas of service delivery.
• Ensure hazards are identified and suitable, sufficient risk assessments are completed to reduce or eliminate risk.
• Champion strong health and safety standards, ensuring colleagues understand and comply with policies and procedures.
• Carry out audits and spot checks to confirm that work delivered by direct employees and subcontractors meets the required quality standards.
• Manage performance against KPIs and ensure the team understands how its work contributes to successful service delivery.
• Lead, support and develop the site team, including first-line management and employment processes.
• Build effective relationships with HMPPS and other key stakeholders through clear, confident and professional communication.
• Manage site budgets, monitor profit and loss, and identify additional works opportunities.
• Support environmental management and local and business zero-carbon programmes.
• Maintain strong operational oversight of planned and reactive maintenance activity, ensuring work is completed safely and on time.
• Provide visible leadership and bring the resilience needed to succeed in a secure, operationally demanding environment.

Title: Facilities Manager

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced on-site Facilities Manager at HMP Long Lartin. This is a high-profile leadership role for someone who thrives in a complex Hard FM environment and wants to make a visible, lasting impact.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an on-call requirement for escalations.

As the Facilities Manager, you will lead the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of Hard FM services across the site. You will oversee the estate, develop your team and work closely with the client to strengthen service delivery. What You Will Bring

• A recognised and relevant technical or facilities management qualification, ideally IWFM Level 3 or equivalent.
• Substantial experience leading Hard FM or estates services in a complex operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and the practical implementation of policies.
• Sound knowledge of statutory and mandatory compliance, including experience preparing for external audits.
• Experience managing service delivery, KPIs, budgets and costs.
• Confident first-line people management experience, with the ability to lead and develop teams.
• Credible customer and stakeholder relationship management skills.
• A clear, professional and sensitive communication style, including when discussing technical matters.

Experience within a prison or secure environment would be advantageous, although we also welcome applications from candidates with strong transferable experience gained in settings such as engineering or complex estates.

Prison Security Clearance will be required. Amey will support you through this process.
