A leading company in aviation systems seeks a Facilities Manager in Braintree, England, to oversee facility operations and ensure optimal condition and compliance of buildings and systems. This role includes managing budgets, contractor relationships, and promoting sustainable practices within the facilities management team.
Job Purpose:
To, manage the operation and maintenance of the buildings, equipment, furnishings, grounds, and all regulatory agencies (related to facilities).
The Facilities include structures and grounds, as well as, multiple utilities such as heating, air conditioning, power, water and electrical.
The position's role is to provide for the proper and safe functioning of all of the facilities, as well as, to perform facility planning, oversight of construction, remodelling and repair of the facilities. In the new environment and sustainable growth, monitors and improves energy saving and decrease environment impact of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilities management to include current and future planning
• Management of Repairs and Maintenance budget
• Management of sub-contractors including annual review of performance and costs
• Flexibility to be present on site to align with contractors working pattern and occasional weekend or night attendance.
• Key holder and key contact for security measures out of hours
• Lead and manage landlord requests to include any lease negotiations
• Plan, budget, and schedule facility modifications including relocations/expansion/refurbishments
• on lease negotiations and management of landlord requests
• Facilities operation, maintenance, repair, installation and construction.
• Manages the maintenance of the exterior of the facility; oversee landscaping contractors.
• Manages and oversee the security of the facility; oversee the security contractors.
• Monitor and maintain car park facilities
• Promote a positive working relationship within team, location and contractors.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing proper safety procedures in collaboration with the HSE officer.
• Active participation in site level improvements for e.g. Actions from WB@WC
• Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of Facilities/Maintenance functions.
• Contributes to Calibration process for site when applicable.
• Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with employees and management.
• Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of effective Facilities/Maintenance Department planning, policies, and procedures.
• Carry out routine general day to day repairs for e.g. (but not limited to) erecting displays, desk alterations, door handle replacement.
• Support IT infrastructure (for e.g. Cabling) and desktop set up
• Visitor Management to include international visitors
• Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
• Education:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree from a college/technical school in a related field.
• Experience:
Demonstratable related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential: Demonstratable stakeholder management
Project management experience
• Computer Skills:
Essential: Proficient with Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred: Knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles.
• Other Skills:
Knowledge of construction, building systems repair/maintenance required.
Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks required.
Exhibit strong judgment and decision-making skills.
Ability to interface successfully with contractors and vendors and maintain positive business relationships.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and assignments with attention to detail.
Problem solving, well organised, detail oriented and accurate.
• Flexibility to adapt working hours where necessary
Additional Preferred skills (not required):
Experience within an aerospace or aircraft manufacturing facility.
Previous experience with large scale project management to include facility remodel/transformation.
Familiarity with UK environmental regulations and compliance best practices.
