Job summary

Adaptive HVM is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a 12-month contract in the NW of London to maintain mission-critical equipment including liquid cooling, power distribution, generators and UPS systems.

The role operates on a shift rotation supporting 24/7 data centre operations, performing planned and reactive maintenance and supervising on-site vendors. Eligibility to work full-time in the UK is required.

  • Experience with mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems.
  • Hands-on maintenance, inspections or troubleshooting on plant equipment.
  • Knowledge of cooling, HVAC, pumps, motors and power distribution.

  • Perform planned preventive and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Monitor alarms and system performance with BMS.
  • Support testing of generator tests and infrastructure failover.
  • Supervise vendors performing maintenance on site.
  • Maintain maintenance records and logs.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician in a 12 month contract in the Nort-West of London.

You will work as part of a team responsible for maintaining mission-critical equipment including liquid cooling, power distribution systems, generators, and UPS systems.

This role operates on a shift rotation supporting 24/7 data center operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems
  • Conduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks to ensure systems are operating correctly
  • Monitor alarms and system performance using Building Management Systems (BMS) and other monitoring tools
  • Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting across infrastructure systems including power distribution and cooling equipment
  • Support operation and testing of critical systems including liquid cooling systems and cooling equipment, diesel generators, UPS systems, and switchgear.
  • Supervise specialist vendors performing maintenance or repair activities on site
  • Follow permit-to-work and safety procedures for all maintenance and operational activities
  • Participate in incident response and support troubleshooting during infrastructure events
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and operational logs
  • Support testing activities including generator tests and infrastructure failover exercises
A Typical Day may include:
  • Performing daily plant inspections across mechanical and electrical infrastructure
  • Monitoring alarms and system status through the Building Management System (BMS)
  • Responding to infrastructure alerts and assisting with initial troubleshooting
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance tasks on site equipment
  • Supporting generator tests and infrastructure system checks
  • Supervising vendors performing maintenance activities
  • Completing shift logs, plant status reports and operational handovers
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience working with mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems
  • Hands‑on experience performing maintenance, inspections or troubleshooting on plant equipment
  • Knowledge of infrastructure systems such as:
    • Liquid cooling systems – Primary area of expertise sought, followed by other cooling and mechanical systems.
    • HVAC / cooling systems
    • pumps, motors or industrial equipment
    • power distribution equipment
    • generators
    • UPS systems
  • Ability to follow operational procedures and safety standards
  • Willingness to work in a shift-based environment supporting 24/7 operations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanical and electrical qualification (hands on apprenticeship, diploma or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working in data centres, industrial facilities, manufacturing plants or critical environments
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar monitoring systems
  • Experience working with permit‑to‑work or safety management systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
