Job summary

RG Setsquare is recruiting an M&E Shift Technician to join a critical data centre environment in London. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on UPS, generators, HV/LV systems, PDU, CRAC, chillers, HVAC and BMS, while monitoring environmental conditions and responding to faults.

You will also maintain logs and supervise contractors, supporting the Shift Manager in a busy 24/7 facility. The ideal candidate has strong M&E maintenance experience in a data centre or similar, HV AP/LV AP

Qualifications

• Experience in a critical environment, preferably a data centre.
• HV AP experience or qualification.
• 18th Edition BS7671.
• City & Guilds or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical/Building Services.
• Knowledge of RAMS and permit-to-work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PPM, reactive and breakdown maintenance across M&E systems.
• Fault-finding on UPS, generators, HV/LV, PDU, CRAC, chillers, HVAC and BMS.
• Monitor environmental conditions including temperature and humidity.
• Respond to plant faults and alarms; escalate and resolve promptly.
• Maintain shift logs and maintenance documentation.
• Supervise contractors; ensure RAMS and safe-working practices.
• Support Shift Manager and provide cover as needed.
• Work in a 24/7 critical environment as part of a shift team.

M&E Shift Technician - Data Centre

Location: Hounslow

Salary: £60,645 + 3-4% Annual Bonus

Shift Pattern: 24/7 shift rota

We're currently recruiting for an M&E Shift Technician to join a critical data centre environment in London.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure, ensuring systems remain safe, reliable and fully operational.

The Role

• Carrying out PPM, reactive and breakdown maintenance across critical M&E systems.
• Maintaining and fault-finding on UPS, generators, HV/LV electrical systems, PDU's, CRAC units, chillers, HVAC and BMS.
• Monitoring critical environmental conditions including temperature and humidity.
• Responding to plant faults and alarms and ensuring issues are escalated and resolved promptly.
• Maintaining accurate shift logs, site records and maintenance documentation.
• Supervising contractors and ensuring permits, RAMS and safe working practices are followed.
• Supporting the Shift Manager and providing cover when required.
• Working within a 24/7 critical environment and responding to operational requirements as part of a shift team.

About You

• Previous experience working within a critical environment, ideally a data centre.
• Strong M&E maintenance experience.
• Experience with UPS, generators, HV/LV systems, chillers, HVAC/CRAC and BMS.
• HV Authorised Person (AP) experience/qualification.
• 18th Edition BS7671.
• A City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration or Building Services.
• Good understanding of safe systems of work, RAMS and permit-to-work procedures.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a shift team.
