Job summary

You will carry out PPMs, manage CAFM work orders, supervise contractors, and support on-call rotations with additional pay. The role emphasizes safety, high-quality reactive maintenance, and clear reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven FM/building services experience, multi-skilled preferred.
• Electrical qualifications required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all planned preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks per schedule.
• Ensure compliance with KPIs, Health & Safety legislation, and site requirements.
• Identify/remediate issues from PPMs, self-delivery or via contractors.
• Use CAFM to manage work orders and update asset database.
• Maintain client portals with documentation and updates.
• Deliver high-quality, reactive maintenance across FM disciplines.
• Provide cover across campus sites when needed.
• Participate in on-call rota (1 in 3 weeks; extra pay for on-call).
• Conduct regular visual inspections of plant and building fabric; report faults.

Job description

NMS Recruit are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join a growing and forward-thinking company. You willl be joining a team that values technical excellence, proactive thinking, and a supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with the scheduled programme
• Ensure full compliance with KPIs, Health & Safety legislation, and site-specific requirements
• Identify and action any remedial work from PPMs, either through self-delivery or by coordinating contractors
• Utilise the CAFM system to manage all work orders and update the asset database accurately
• Maintain client portals (e.g., Hydro-X, Pest Portal) with all relevant documentation and updates
• Deliver high-quality, reactive maintenance services across all FM disciplines
• Prioritise effectively to ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues
• Provide cover support across campus sites when needed due to holidays, sickness, or vacancies
• Participate in the on-call rota (1 in 3 weeks minimum) - additional pay for extra on-call cover
• Conduct regular visual inspections of plant, equipment, and building fabric to identify faults and suggest solutions
• Escalate non-repairable faults promptly and provide accurate reporting
• Manage subcontractors on-site, ensuring RAMS, site rules, and safety procedures are followed
• Maintain regular communication, providing updates on works, audits, and compliance
• Develop a strong working knowledge of the site's systems and FM needs
• Adhere strictly to Health & Safety policies and report all incidents or near misses
• Support minor project works, including small installations and alterations
• Call out 1 in 3

Experience

• Proven experience in an FM or building services role (multi-skilled preferred)
• Electrical qualifications - essential
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Strong understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Good knowledge of CAFM systems and reporting
• Able to manage time effectively and remain calm under pressure
