Job summary

Animal Trust (UK) is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead planned maintenance, statutory inspections and site compliance across its veterinary estate. You will work with Practice Managers, providing technical guidance, planning and contractor coordination to keep facilities safe and operational.

You will oversee budgets, CAFM record-keeping and CAPEX planning, ensuring timely actions and value for money while driving improvements across sites with a focus on safety and patient care.

Qualifications

• Strong experience managing maintenance across multi-site premises.
• Technical knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety, and facilities compliance.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and contractor costs.
• Experience using CAFM systems to track servicing, repairs, compliance actions and costs.
• Strong planning, record-keeping and communication skills.
• Ability to investigate problems and see work through without close supervision.
• IOSH Managing Safely training, or willingness to complete it.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.

Responsibilities

• Manage planned maintenance, statutory inspections and facilities compliance, keeping accurate records and ensuring findings are addressed promptly.
• Visit sites regularly, maintain condition and asset records, and agree maintenance priorities with Practice Managers.
• Support Practice Managers with maintenance requirements, quotations and contractor arrangements, leading more complex issues where needed.
• Respond to urgent problems, prioritising safety, patient care and the ability of a site to operate.
• Oversee contractors, check appropriate safety documentation, monitor performance against SLAs and ensure work is completed safely and satisfactorily.
• Manage agreed maintenance budgets, forecast expenditure and flag potential overspend early, ensuring value for money.
• Use CAFM to maintain accurate maintenance, servicing and cost records, reporting overdue actions and recurring problems.
• Identify future replacement needs and provide information for CAPEX decisions.
• Bring new sites into the maintenance programme as the estate grows.
