Job summary

Octric Semiconductor in Newton Aycliffe, UK, is seeking a Facilities Instrument Technician to maintain and optimise instrumentation and control systems on a state-of-the-art manufacturing line.

You will install, commission, calibrate sensors, diagnose faults, and work with Maximo/CMMS to plan preventive maintenance while driving continuous improvement and compliance with safety and ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Time served apprenticeship from an Instrumentation / Control or Electrical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years post apprentice knowledge and experience of Process / Chemical Plant.
• Familiarity with COSHH and ability to write method statements and risk assessments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with practical and theoretical methodologies.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and electrically operated control valves and measurement systems.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission instrumentation and control systems as part of the manufacturing line.
• Calibrate instruments (flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors) to maintain accuracy.
• Diagnose and rectify plant breakdowns with root cause analysis and improvement actions.
• Utilise CMMS/Maximo to schedule and record maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with process technicians to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
• Support continuous improvement projects within facilities operations.
