Job summary

TWA, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham hospitals is a division of Manchester Foundation Trust, providing essential services to ensure the smooth operation of the division. We are seeking staff to join our Altrincham Division to continue delivering excellent support services to our hospitals. As a Facilities Assistant - Porter, you will provide comprehensive portering and cleaning services at the Altrincham site. The position is part-time, working 14:00-20:00, Monday to Friday, with potential weekend and bank holiday shifts, including Christmas.

Main duties of the job:

  1. Work in a dedicated porter role, providing hospital portering services, including:
  • Transfer of patients between wards and departments
  • Transporting equipment, consumables, catering products, mail, case notes, specimens, medical gases, linen, and furniture
  1. Support other facilities services such as catering and domestic to ensure seamless service delivery.

Job responsibilities:

  1. Move patients using beds, trolleys, and wheelchairs as directed.
  2. Transport items like case request forms, specimens, medicines, equipment, and furniture between wards and departments, responding to scheduled and unscheduled requests.
  3. Respond to non-scheduled tasks via the Helpdesk on a handheld device, recording response and completion times.
  4. Report issues or delays to the Helpdesk to maintain an audit trail.
  5. Collect and deliver waste, including special waste and soiled linen, ensuring storage areas are safe, clean, and secure.
