Job summary

Interaction Recruitment is seeking a reliable Facilities Assistant to join a busy team in Taunton. The role covers cleaning, basic maintenance and supporting local events, with 37 hours per week and variable shifts including evenings and weekends.

You will carry out routine checks, respond to minor repairs, manage safety procedures and ensure facilities are clean, safe and presentable. A full UK driving licence is required and weekend and bank holiday rates apply.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience.
• Good understanding of health and safety and COSHH.
• Basic maintenance skills and experience using hand or power tools.
• Good communication and professional attitude.
• Basic IT skills (Outlook or Microsoft Teams).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible with working hours.
• Physical ability for manual duties and outdoor work.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining public toilets, pavilions and other facilities.
• Carrying out routine inspections and minor maintenance repairs.
• Keeping buildings and surrounding areas clean, tidy and presentable.
• Responding to graffiti, vandalism, weeds, fly-posting and untidiness.
• Completing routine safety and maintenance checks, including water temperatures and emergency lighting.
• Removing litter and dealing with fly-tipping where safe and appropriate.
• Helping set up equipment and furniture for events.
• Supporting outdoor events with litter picking and assisting with road closures when required.
• Maintaining tools, equipment and vehicles and completing daily vehicle checks.
• Recording completed work and reporting issues that require further attention.
• Following health and safety procedures and using PPE correctly.
