Job summary

Kempston Academy in Bedford is seeking a Facilities Assistant to support the Facilities Manager in maintaining the school's buildings, grounds and facilities. You will carry out electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks as required and help manage opening/closing, alarms and security, acting as a key holder where directed. Full training is provided, and safeguarding requirements apply.

Facilities Assistant

Location: Kempston Academy, Bedford

Contract: Permanent

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: Level 3 Point 6-8

Closing Date: Monday 2nd November 2026 at 9am

We are looking to appoint a passionate and skilled Facilities Assistant to directly support and assist the Facilities Manager in all areas of the general maintenance, care and upkeep of the school’s buildings, grounds and facilities. You will also need to be able to carry out electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other general repairs around the school site as required.

The role will involve the opening and closing of Trust premises and main site security procedures including alarm systems and ensuring all doors & windows are secured and all lights & heaters are switched off and act as a designated key holder for the school as directed.
