Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a senior Façade Engineer to lead delivery from concept to construction on landmark façade projects. You will chair client meetings, lead design reviews and drive technical excellence across multidisciplinary interfaces.

You will act as Project Director or Discipline Lead on high-profile schemes, overseeing risk, programme, resources and commercial performance while mentoring engineers and promoting a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

A recognised degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in built environment discipline (Façade Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or similar area).
Proven experience in a façade design/engineering role or other relevant industry experience in building physics and sustainability design.
A willingness to progress towards Chartered Engineer status with a recognized professional institution.
In-depth technical and design skills related to building envelope design and detailing, construction techniques, procurement routes and risk assessment.
Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments and to develop and maintain successful client relationships.
Planning and organizational skills with excellent communications skills (both written and verbal).
Understanding of and some ability to use analysis software tools (structural or thermal) such as Strand7, ANSYS, Solid Works, Mepla , Vitrages , Bisco, Trisco, Builddesk or Flixo will be an advantage.
Familiarity with international codes including European standards will be a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of façade engineering projects from concept through construction, including client meetings, presentations, workshops and design reviews.
Act as Project Director, Project Manager or Discipline Lead on complex and high-profile projects, managing risks, programme, resources and commercial performance.
Oversee technical quality and compliance with standards and project requirements; coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces.
Provide technical direction, design reviews and mentoring to project teams; promote collaboration and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships; act as a trusted adviser on façade engineering.
Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client accounts and participate in strategic client engagement activities.
Lead or support bids, proposals, fee submissions and interview presentations.
Contribute to strategic planning and revenue targets; promote cross-selling across WSP disciplines.
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
Lead by example in WSP values; raise the profile of façade engineering within the industry.
Participate in design meetings; present scheme calculations and sketches.
Collaborate with architects, structural and environmental engineers, and contractors.
Carry out site inspections and assist in writing/reviewing reports; conduct lessons learnt sessions.
