Job summary

Keyman Personnel is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead façade remediation and re-cladding projects for high-rise residential schemes, with a strong focus on BSR Gateway submissions and regulatory compliance.

The role requires coordinating an in-house façade design team and external consultants, managing RFIs, and ensuring design information aligns with Building Regulations and project specifications on site.

Qualifications

• Experience leading façade design and re-cladding projects.
• Strong knowledge of Building Safety Act and BSR gateway processes.
• Proven ability to manage BSR engagement and RFIs.
• Experience with high-rise residential or higher-risk buildings.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process across multiple faade remediation and re-cladding projects.
• Lead engagement with the Building Safety Regulator throughout Gateway submissions and approvals.
• Coordinate information for initial BSR submissions.
• Manage and respond to technical RFIs from BSR, clients and project teams.
• Identify design risks and provide practical, compliant solutions.
• Manage an in-house team of faade designers.
• Coordinate external specialist faade designers and consultants.
• Review drawings and technical information before submission to building control and the BSR.
• Carry out site visits and surveys when accurate as-built information is unavailable.
• Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations, fire-safety requirements and project specifications.
• Coordinate design information with clients, consultants, manufacturers and operations teams.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy before materials and faade systems are ordered.
• Monitor design programmes, submissions, approvals and outstanding information.
