Job summary

Purosearch is recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist contractor in the building envelope and façade sector for a Design Manager role in Crawley.

You will own the design process from concept to construction, coordinating design teams, consultants and suppliers to ensure designs are technically compliant, commercially viable and delivered to programme. This is an excellent opportunity for progression within a growing specialist contractor.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Design Manager / Senior Designer / Design Coordinator role within the building envelope, façade or construction sector.
• Strong technical understanding of façade/building envelope systems.
• Experience managing design packages from concept through to construction.
• Ability to interpret and review technical drawings and specifications.
• Solid knowledge of UK standards/regulations.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Proactive with attention to technical detail.

• Manage the design process across multiple building envelope projects.

We are currently working with a well-established specialist contractor within the building envelope and façade sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with a background in façades, cladding, roofing or the wider building envelope to take ownership of design delivery across a range of technically challenging projects.

The Role

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams to ensure designs are technically compliant, commercially viable and delivered to programme.

• Managing the design process across multiple building envelope projects.
• Coordinating design teams, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and design information.
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, standards and project requirements.
• Managing design programmes, deliverables and technical submissions.
• Identifying and resolving design issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting pre-construction and tender activities where required.
• Working closely with Commercial and Project teams to manage design changes and associated costs.
• Attending design, client and project meetings.
• Ensuring effective communication between design and construction teams.
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience in a Design Manager / Senior Designer / Design Coordinator position within the building envelope, façade, cladding or construction sector.
• Strong technical understanding of façade and/or building envelope systems.
• Experience managing design packages from concept through to construction.
• Ability to interpret and review technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes and relevant UK standards/regulations.
