Job summary

Facade Today in Barnet is actively seeking a Facades Design Manager to lead façade design across multiple projects from concept through construction. You will work closely with clients, consultants and suppliers to ensure high technical and commercial standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong façade design or design management experience, knowledge of systems and construction methods, and proven ability to manage design packages to delivery while maintaining buildability and quality.

The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established and growing business operating within the property and construction sector. They are looking to appoint an experienced Facades Design Manager to join their team and take a key role in managing façade design across a range of projects.

You will oversee the design process from concept through to construction, working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure projects are delivered to a high technical and commercial standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate façade design activities across multiple projects.
• Lead the design process from concept and tender through to detailed design and construction.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations and technical information.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, clients, contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Identify and resolve technical, design and buildability issues.
• Ensure façade designs comply with relevant UK Building Regulations and industry standards.
• Manage design programmes and ensure key deliverables are achieved on time.
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to develop suitable façade systems and solutions.
• Provide technical input into tenders, pre-construction activities and project planning.
• Monitor design changes and assess their impact on cost, programme and delivery.
• Support site teams with technical guidance throughout the construction phase.
• Maintain accurate design documentation, approvals and project records.
• Ensure quality, compliance, buildability and safety remain central to the design process.

About You

The successful candidate will have a strong background in façade design or design management, with the technical knowledge and confidence to manage projects and work with a range of stakeholders.

You Will Ideally Have

• Previous experience within a Facades Design Manager, Design Manager or similar technical role.
• Strong knowledge of façade systems, materials and construction methods.
• Experience managing façade design packages through to delivery.
• The ability to interpret and review technical drawings and specifications.
• A good understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
• Experience working with consultants, contractors, suppliers and clients.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of buildability.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A relevant qualification in construction, engineering, architecture or a related discipline would be advantageous.
