We are looking to recruit on behalf of our client a Fabrication Manager to join their existing team on a permanent basis.
Health & Safety
- Monitor and control health & safety within the fabrication operation and surrounding areas.
- Report accidents and near misses to the General Manager.
- Ensure housekeeping control to maintain a safe working environment for all.
- Ensure plant checklists are completed daily by all personnel.
Quality
- Report all non-conformances within the fabrication operation.
- Ensure measuring equipment is used according to the company quality system.
- Inspect individual items prior to dispatch and effectively communicate any issues.
- Delegate inspection tasks while maintaining responsibility and inform the General Manager of any delinquencies.
- Maintain disciplined documentation in compliance with ISO 9001:2008 and 1090 standards.
- Control all third-party inspection requirements (MPI / UT, etc.).
Manufacturing
- Set weekly production plans with the Director & Operations Director to ensure resource efficiency, and amend as necessary.
- Conduct handovers, ensure resource availability, monitor during production, and promote a right-first-time culture.
- Respond daily to the Operations Director to maintain effectiveness and efficiency.
- Communicate regularly to minimize plan slippage.
- Control material and consumable usage, minimizing spend and communicating expenditure needs.
- Assist in organizing and ordering materials as requested.
- Support the workforce to minimize lost time and maximize efficiency.
- Perform contract reviews with sales and technical teams, collaborating for departmental success.
- Regularly supervise the fabrication operation, focusing on quality, productivity, and health & safety.
- Assist in bid formulation when required.
- Work closely with new employees to support their progress and address difficulties.
- Track job performance against estimated hours and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintain good relationships internally and externally.
- Allocate work based on employee competence.
- Report transport requirements to the General Manager and complete related documentation promptly.
- Communicate loading, overtime, and related information effectively to the workforce.
- Conduct monthly toolbox talks, maintaining attendance and signatures.
- Manage time effectively and control overtime to benefit the business financially.
