Job summary

At Babcock, a Fabrication and Welding Supervisor role is based on our Rosyth site. You’ll lead a production team to safely deliver critical work packages against safety, quality, cost and schedule targets, driving improvement and workforce development.

Role requires extensive experience in fabrication and welding, with strong leadership, drawing on heritage in defence and heavy engineering. Onsite work at Rosyth with health and safety at the core.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading teams within a production, manufacturing, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering environment.
• Extensive experience of structural steel fabrication and welding processes.
• Demonstrable success delivering against safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and production specifications.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and people development skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading day-to-day production activities to ensure delivery of contractual commitments and ship structural production objectives.
• Monitoring structural production performance against key targets and implementing recovery plans where required.
• Setting clear priorities and performance expectations while coordinating activities across multiple disciplines and departments.
• Championing a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Developing team capability through coaching, performance management, engagement and workforce planning activities.
