Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Fabric Engineer to join a small site-based engineering team in a state-of-the-art building for a prestigious client. The role focuses on inspecting, maintaining and repairing fire doors and riser doors, along with general building fabric maintenance and reactive works.

You will work with an Electrical Engineer and Supervisor, liaising with the client’s team and contractors, ensuring accurate records and a professional service at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience in fabric maintenance and building services.
• Knowledge of fire doors and riser door systems.
• Ability to liaise with contractors and site personnel.

• Identify building fabric defects and determine appropriate remedial works.
• Carry out general planned and reactive building fabric maintenance.

• Provide contractors with access, escort and assistance where required.
• Maintain records and ensure procedures are followed.
• Deliver a professional, customer-focused service at all times.

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Fabric Engineer to join our small, friendly site-based engineering team, working within a state-of-the-art building for a prestigious client. This is primarily a fabric-focused position, with particular emphasis on the inspection, maintenance and repair of fire doors and riser doors, alongside general building fabric maintenance and reactive works. You’ll work alongside an Electrical Engineer and Supervisor and closely with the client’s own engineering team. We’re looking for someone with strong fabric maintenance experience who also has a good general understanding of building services and is comfortable identifying and assessing issues outside of their core discipline.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair fire doors, riser doors, door locks and locking mechanisms.
• Identify building fabric defects and determine appropriate remedial works.
• Carry out general planned and reactive building fabric maintenance.
• Work closely with the client’s engineering team and other site personnel.
• Act as a point of contact for contractors attending site, understanding the works being undertaken and directing them to the appropriate areas.
• Provide contractors with access, escort and assistance where required.
• Maintain awareness of contractor visits and works taking place across the site, including activities outside of your own discipline.
• Use your wider building-services knowledge to help assess issues involving plumbing, BMS, HVAC and mechanical systems where required.
• Provide clear and accurate information to support the diagnosis and resolution of faults.
• Maintain accurate site records and ensure relevant processes and procedures are followed.
• Deliver a professional, customer-focused service at all times.

Overtime Opportunities

There are excellent opportunities to increase your earnings through regular enhanced-rate overtime, including frequent weekend work and occasional late and night shifts. Overtime is not compulsory; however, we are looking for someone who is flexible and keen to take advantage of the additional hours available.
