Job summary

Empire Partnership is seeking a Fabric Engineer/ Maintenance Assistant for a Central London portfolio. The role is primarily foot-mobile and site-based, with a requirement for a valid UK driving licence and occasional use of a pool vehicle.

You will perform a wide range of maintenance tasks across multiple nearby properties, including carpentry, decorating, tiling and basic plumbing, while ensuring safety standards and high standards of workmanship at all times.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a maintenance/handyman role.
• Hands-on skills across building maintenance, carpentry, decorating, and basic plumbing.
• Ability to use hand tools safely and confidently.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety practices.
• Full UK Driving Licence (essential).

Responsibilities

• Carry out general property maintenance and repairs across the portfolio.
• Carpentry repairs including doors, frames, windows and locking systems.
• Basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
• Tiling, decorating and minor plastering works.
• Installation and repair of gutters and drainage systems.
• Construction of minor timber structures such as sheds, crates and kennels.
• Source materials from local suppliers and manufacturers.
• Support colleagues and provide cover during periods of absence.
• Participate in shift patterns and on-call arrangements when required.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service.
• Liaise with colleagues, supervisors and management teams.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
• Complete any additional maintenance duties as required.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Fabric Engineer/ Maintenance Assistant to join a well-established property team supporting a prestigious portfolio in the Brompton Road area of Central London.

This is primarily a foot mobile role covering multiple nearby properties, carrying out a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks. While the role is largely site-based within walking distance of the portfolio, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to use a pool vehicle when required.

Requirements

• Proven experience within a maintenance, handyman or property maintenance role
• Good all-round building maintenance skills
• Experience with carpentry, decorating, tiling and basic plumbing
• Ability to use hand tools confidently and safely
• Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
• Knowledge of current Building Regulations
• Strong communication skills and professional attitude
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
• Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
