Job summary

Red Bull Powertrains in Milton Keynes is offering year-long placement opportunities within our Design Engineering teams. You will be immersed in our state-of-the-art facilities, contributing to design and development of critical Power Unit systems including ICE/ERS, battery, MGU-K, turbo and chassis integration.

As a placement student, you’ll work on testing, CAD-driven design, fixtures and inspections, and data analysis to optimise performance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering principles and application of math to solve problems.
• Familiarity with CAD/FEA/CFD or system modelling (training provided).
• Experience handling data from simulations or tests and producing technical docs.
• Demonstrated teamwork and communication in projects.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all stages of the engineering process from conceptual design, through manufacturing reviews, to live testing on our in-house dyno facilities
• Applying engineering design principles using tools such as CAD and rapid manufacturing techniques to develop real Power Unit components
• Developing fixtures, jigs, and assemblies to support testing, with hands-on involvement in builds, upgrades, and component installations
• Designing and executing measurement tests, performing failure mode analysis, and using results to propose improvements and validate new designs
• Developing and applying precision instrumentation to capture and analyse the Power Unit's operating environment at microsecond-level resolution
• Building and validating numerical simulations to maximise performance and reliability
• Interpreting and reporting data through technical documentation and presenting insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborating closely with all the Technical and Manufacturing teams to deliver world-class engineering solutions
• Gaining direct exposure to the 2027 Formula 1 season and contributing to the future of Red Bull Powertrains
