Job summary

Red Bull Powertrains invites undergraduates to join year-long placement opportunities within Design Engineering, working on ICE & ERS systems including battery, electronics, MGU-K, turbo and chassis integration. You will contribute to the design of high-performance components, assist testing on in-house dyno facilities, and collaborate with multiple teams across the Technical and Manufacturing functions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience from at least one year of undergraduate study in engineering, mathematics or physics.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles and ability to apply mathematical methods to real problems.
• Familiarity with CAD, FEA, CFD or system modelling (training provided).
• Experience handling and analysing data from simulations or tests, with strong technical documentation.
• Ability to break complex problems into fundamentals and understand the physics involved.
• Evidence of genuine engineering passion through projects or placements.
• Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all stages of the engineering process from concept to live testing on dyno facilities.
• Apply design principles using CAD and rapid manufacturing techniques.
• Develop fixtures, jigs and assemblies to support testing and builds.
• Design and execute measurement tests and perform failure analysis to improve designs.
• Develop and apply precision instrumentation for Power Unit environments.
• Build and validate numerical simulations to maximise performance and reliability.
• Prepare technical documentation and present insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Technical and Manufacturing teams to deliver solutions.
• Gain exposure to the 2027 Formula 1 season and contribute to Red Bull Powertrains.
