Job description

We are currently looking for an EYFS Teaching Assistant to start at a primary school in Carlisle. The position is a long-term role for the full academic year.

We are looking for someone who has experience working in a school or an early years unit. The school is located in central Carlisle in a large primary school. The ideal EYFS Teaching Assistant applicant will also have experience of working with young people with additional needs such as Speech and Language, Autism, and ADHD.

The role:

1. Learning Support: Assist the teacher in delivering lessons, focusing on each child’s individual educational journey and needs. Helping the pupils reach key educational milestones.
2. Personalised Support: Provide a pupil-centred approach and assistance to children with SEND, creating a nurturing and secure environment where they feel safe to learn and thrive.
3. Relationships and communication: Develop strong relationships with staff and parents, ensuring effective communication on children’s daily activities and health needs.
4. Safeguarding: Play a crucial role in safeguarding efforts to ensure the welfare and safety of our young learners.

Key attributes required:

1. Someone with a passion for working with young people.
2. A great team player who is friendly and outgoing.
3. An understanding of Speech and Language.
4. Ideally a childcare qualification/ Teaching Assistant qualification or similar.

The EYFS Teaching Assistant position is school hours 8:30am – 3:30pm; we will consider people part-time as well as full-time.
