Job summary

Cranleigh School is currently seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant to support a brand-new EYFS Reception classroom. You will work with class teachers to plan and deliver daily learning, observing and recording progress and supporting reading and early language development.

Based in Cranleigh Pre-Prep, you will thrive in a collaborative team, maintain displays, and help supervise pupils during breaks and visits while applying safeguarding and welfare standards.

Qualifications

• Level 3 childcare qualification or above.
• Experience supporting Reception pupils and EYFS requirements, safeguarding and welfare expectations.
• Observation and assessment experience to inform next steps.
• Strong spoken and written English; IT literate; well organised and able to prioritise.
• Positive interpersonal skills with children and adults; collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality EYFS learning activities (indoor and outdoor).
• Observe, assess and track pupils’ development and next steps in learning.
• Listen to children read; promote enjoyment of books and early language skills.
• Maintain interactive, child-friendly displays and encourage independent learning.
• Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes and on off-site visits; provide routine admin support.
• Follow and embed EYFS policies in daily practice.
