Job summary

Our Lady & St Paul’s RC Primary School in Heywood is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to work with the class teacher in the Early Years. The role supports children's learning, development and wellbeing through adult-led activities, purposeful play and small-group work.

This fixed-term contract runs until August 2027, 30 hours per week during term time plus two days. The school values inclusive education, safeguarding and a Catholic ethos, and offers Local Government Pension Scheme

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of how young children learn and develop.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, families and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Support the learning, development and wellbeing of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, working with the class teacher and wider Early Years team.
• Help create a safe, nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
• Support high-quality learning through adult-led activities and purposeful play.
• Work with individual children and small groups.
• Support children's communication and language, early literacy, mathematics, physical development, independence, confidence and personal, social and emotional skills.
• Support the class teacher to prepare and organise the learning environment.
• Support observations and assessment of children's progress.
• Implement interventions and individual support where required.
• Ensure provision reflects the needs, interests and next steps of all pupils.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, families and other professionals.
• Promote high standards of behaviour, safeguarding and welfare.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and support its Catholic ethos.
