Responsibilities

1. Deliver the curriculum tailored to the age, ability, and subject(s) you teach.
2. Prepare and develop teaching materials, programmes, and pastoral arrangements.
3. Be accountable for the attainment, progress, and outcomes of your pupils.
4. Understand pupils’ capabilities, prior knowledge, and plan differentiated teaching accordingly, demonstrating knowledge of how pupils learn.
5. Address the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs, gifted and talented pupils, EAL students, and students with disabilities, using appropriate teaching approaches.
6. Promote high standards of literacy, including the correct use of spoken English.
7. If teaching early reading, apply appropriate strategies such as systematic synthetic phonics.
8. Use observation, assessment, monitoring, and recording strategies to set challenging objectives, monitor progress, and evaluate attainment.
9. Provide pupils with regular feedback and encourage reflection and responsibility for their learning.
10. Utilize data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan future lessons.
11. Assign homework and plan out-of-class activities to reinforce learning.
12. Participate in examination and assessment arrangements as per the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
