Job summary

Spring Meadow Primary School in Harwich seeks a maternity cover EYFS class teacher to support our pupils' success. The role requires an enthusiastic, resilient candidate with QTS or EYFS qualification and a proven track record in early years teaching.

You will deliver engaging learning aligned with the EYFS framework, build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues, and contribute to safeguarding and inclusive practices across the school.

Qualifications

• Holds QTS or EYFS teaching qualification.
• Strong up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS framework.
• Proven experience in early years teaching.
• Patient, resilient and calm in challenging situations.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
• Understanding SEMH needs and trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and external professionals.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Committed to inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners.
• Able to lead Learning Support Assistants and adapt teaching to diverse needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging EYFS learning in line with the national curriculum and EYFS framework.
• Champion best practice in early years education to secure excellent outcomes.
• Assess, monitor and report pupil progress using data to inform teaching.
• Create a positive, safe, stimulating classroom environment.
• Ensure safeguarding, welfare and health & safety requirements are met.
• Adapt teaching to meet diverse needs including SEND and EAL.
• Collaborate with colleagues, support staff and parents/carers.
• Contribute to wider school life and extracurricular activities.
• Maintain accurate records and fulfil statutory duties.
