Job summary

RNIB Scotland is seeking an Eye Care Liaison Officer to provide information, practical support and guidance to people affected by sight loss in Dumfries & Galloway. You will work across hospital and community settings, signpost services, and advocate where needed to ensure joined-up care.

You’ll build relationships with NHS teams and third-sector partners, help navigate certification and registration processes, and contribute to service improvement while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Experience providing information, advice or person-centred support in health, social care or community settings.
• Excellent communication and ability to support people going through difficult circumstances.
• Ability to build relationships with professionals and influence outcomes.
• Good IT skills and understanding of GDPR and information governance.
• Willingness to travel to different locations and attend meetings as needed.
• Undertake the RNIB and City University Eye Clinic Support Studies qualification.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred advice and support to people affected by sight loss.
• Signpost and refer to appropriate services and advocate for patients when needed.
• Develop strong referral routes with NHS eye care teams and community partners.
• Contribute to service evaluation, improvement and awareness of the ECLO service.
• Attend relevant clinical and professional forums to share knowledge.
• Manage workload with organisation and accuracy, including records.
